
Oscar Moralez received his bachelor’s of science degree in medical technology from the University of Texas, Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas and is a board certified medical technologist with the College of American Pathologists. He also holds a master’s degree in business administration (MBA) from the University of Colorado.
Oscar has a diverse background in clinical laboratory medicine, with experience in global clinical research organizations as well as hospital and reference laboratory environments. He has almost 20 years of managerial and business development experience in the life science industry including executive level management, sales and marketing, information technology and operations.
Oscar served as director of specialty services at Covance Central Laboratories in Indianapolis. In this role, he was responsible for overseeing various support services including specimen management departments in Indianapolis and Geneva, Switzerland that combined, handled and stored over two million samples collected worldwide from clinical trials. He was also the general manager for Frontline Laboratory Network, a Colorado-based startup venture consisting of a consortium of hospital laboratories and Mayo Medical Laboratories. Prior to that, he served as sales and marketing manager of laboratory outreach services for Boulder Community Hospital in Boulder, Colorado.
In 2002, Oscar founded BioStorage Technologies in Indianapolis which is one of the largest privately held biorepositories in the world with locations in the US and Europe. He served as Chief Operating Officer from 2002-2007. At BioStorage, Oscar helped lead the company in successfully raising over $3 million in angel equity financing and over $8 million in venture capital financing.
