
Stephen Burns is a graduate of Denison University and Indiana University School of Law. He practiced law, primarily litigation and business, for 20 years, representing such corporate clients as Eli Lilly, Lilly Endowment, and Johnson and Johnson. He was admitted to practice in many states, as well as the Seventh Circuit of Appeals and the Supreme Court of the United States. Stephen also taught business law courses at Butler University and Indiana University.
Stephen is currently Chairman of the Board of Wheaton World Wide Moving, having previously held the positions of CEO and President of that organization from 1988 to 2009. During his tenure as CEO, Wheaton grew from a company with gross revenues of 50 million to a company with gross revenues of more than 160 million, while maintaining Wheaton’s status as one of the most respected and quality-oriented companies in the United States.
In 2009, Stephen received the industry’s highest award, The Moving and Storage Institute’s Lifetime Achievement award for distinguished service. Stephen serves on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of the American Moving and Storage Association and is currently treasurer of that organization. Stephen received Ernst and Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year award for Indiana in 2006 and was a finalist for the National Entrepreneur of the Year the same year.
He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership, the Indiana Economic Development Council, Indiana Children’s Wish Fund, the executive board of Give Kids The World and is a member of the Business Law Advisory Board for Indiana University and a Trustee of Marion College.
